Sobre este artículo

Tokyo: Shinsei Shuppansha 新星出版社, 1987. Paperback. 237p., text in Japanese, very good revised edition paperback in wraps. Mizushima is physician and instructor at Tokyo Yakka Daigaku (Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences); his specialty is clinical applications of pharmaceuticals. Preface explains how this second edition was revised and rushed to market after first AIDS cases detected in Japan. Contents: 1. AIDS in Japan, clinic treatment of AIDS; 2. Explanation of AIDS pathology; 3. Explanation of transmission routes with discussion of homosexual haunts in the US, differences between American and Japanese "homos" (in Japan, there are much fewer, they do it to make money, but perhaps with aping of American ways the number will increase, and in fact there are American "homo-agents" at work in Japan as we speak), other routes of transmission; 4. Medical efforts; 5. Can Japan prevent AIDS? (Japanese AIDS policies, Japanese AIDS patients, things to be careful of when going abroad; Japanese unique climatic/cultural features - love of cleanliness and good hygiene - this is elaborated at length with quotations from the Kojiki, from Motoori Norinaga, comparisons of Japanese dance - in which people don't touch - with Western dance - where they do - and Japanese/Western toilets ); 6. AIDS and STDs; 7. Social factors (increase in homosexuality as a result of women's liberation - men are frightened of career women; the deviant world of free sex; the importance of mothers).
