The edges of the dustjacket have faded. Hardcover, xii, 296pp, index, graphs. Longmire worked at the Los Alamos Scientific Laborartory. This book has its origins in a series of lectures that he gave at Los Alamos in the fall and winter of 1956-57. The audience was composed of physicists working in the Sherwood Project. Longmire was an American theoretical physicist who was best known as the discoverer of the mechanism behind high-altitude electromagnetic pulse.He performed several of the key design calculations on the very first thermonuclear weapons produced by the United States.
