Sobre este artículo
Vision Press Limited, London, 1972. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Near Fine. One of T. S. Eliot's closest friends has here written an important new appraisal of the poet's work. Dedicated with her approval to Eliot's widow Valerie, the book commences by placing Eliot's first published works in relation to the background of early twentieth-century thought and sensibility. Dr Chiari goes on to examine the poetry phase by phase, dealing with individual poems such as Prufrock; Gerontion, The Waste Land, Ash Wednesday and The Quartets. Thereafter he considers the dramatic writings that precede the plays, such as Sweeney Agonistes and The Rock, and finally the plays themselves. The conclusion attempts to assess Eliot's place and significance in contemporary literature. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 167 pages. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
