Limited edition. Number 99 of only 225 copies printed on Japan paper. Illustrated with 21 full-page photogravure plates, including 6 in sepia, from watercolors by Garrett. There are 4 smaller photogravures in the introduction, and 65 decorative head/tailpieces throughout. Boards bound in Japan vellum with gilt decoration.
Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Minimal shelf handling wear. Evidence of removed library markings: Residue from removed bookplate on front paste-down; Scuff on the spine; residue on rear end pages. Top edge gilt. 8vo; 9.75 inches tall; xxi, [i], 178pp.
The illustrations reproduced from photogravure, are from watercolor paintings. Six of them, decorative and emblematic figures, are printed from sepia. They represent six characters, - Grace, Love, Harmony, Revel, Sport, and Laughter.. A beautiful example of late 19th century book binding and illustration. Included are works from the major Elizabethan poets.
