Sinopsis
Generations have grown up knowing the equation E=mc2 and that it changed the shape of our world but never understood what it actually means and why it is so significant. In his new book, David Bodanis writes the “biography” of one of the greatest scientific discoveries in history, and through his skill as a writer and teacher, he turns a seemingly impenetrable theory into a dramatic and accessible human achievment.Bodanis begins by devoting elegant chapters to each of the equation’s letters and symbols, introducing the science and scientists forming the backdrop to Einstein’s 1905 discovery. Having demystified the equation, Bodanis explains it mathematically and brings it to life scientifically and historically, making clear the astonishing array of discoveries and consequences it made possible – from the splitting of the atom to a television’s cathode ray tube to the carbon dating of prehistoric paintings. At first, Einstein was unsure of what he had accomplished. “The argument is amusing and seductive,” he wrote to a friend, “but for all I know, the Lord may be laughing over it and leading me down the garden path.” In fact, Einstein did nothing less than open the door to the inner structure of the universe. In David Bodanis’s skilled hands, that achievement is an uncommonly good story.

BOOKLOVERS PARADISE
You will find the LOCATION of our Bookstore on Google. ALL our books are thoroughly cleaned. All books with dust jackets/ wraps are completely covered in 50 or 75 micron High Density PolyEthylene (= "plastic" = archival acetate film), as are books without dust jackets costing more than US$20. Soft-covers and hard-covers without Dj s are covered in adhesive plastic. While we have neither insects nor dampness in our shop, you might find that the total plastic cover keeps both at bay. Covering the whole book means that the common edge-wear described by so many dealers is mostly absent in our books. Any "plastic" is easily removable, it is not adhered to the book nor to the dust jacket. We do not use sellotape nor any other tape which discolours. We restore books where necessary and describe ONLY EXCEPTIONS to a perfect state. Faults in expensive books are described in huge detail. WHEN RESTORED the majority of "faults'' are visible only with great difficulty and certainly NOT in an image. To avoid misleading you we include few images. Please be guided by the very full descriptions. If no faults are described in a cheaper book, please be guided by the Condition. RESTORATION SERVICE. We restore any book younger than 1800 making your grotty, broken old books look like beautifully-cared-for precious old books. DUST JACKETS IN FACSIMILE.
