Orig. published in 1910, this is a special edition abridged for younger readers from 1938, with 12 of the original illustrations in full color by artist John R. Neill, along with many smaller drawings in pen and ink. First Printing of this edition (First, thus), in 62 pages with an additional page listing other abridged & complete Oz books in rear. Small hardcover with brightly colored & decorated paper over boards is in Good+ condition: moderate edgewear & rubbing all around, heavily bumped corners, rubbing to extremities. Former owner's name & Xmas 1941 inside front cover in pen; NO other writing/highlighting/underlining; not ex-lib. Pages are clean with light tanning & the color plates are lovely.
