Sobre este artículo

London and New York: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1898 A good to very good copy of the Macmillan edition of Emma with Hugh Thomson illustrations. First issued in 1896, this is the second reprint. In the original red cloth binding with beautiful gilt decoration to the front board and spine designed by A Turbayne. All edges gilt. With numerous black and white illustrations by Hugh Thomson and decorative yellow endpapers. The front board is very bright and clean and the back board is similarly clean but with a small pale area. Corners are lightly rubbed. The spine is faded although titles and decoration are clear. There is pulling and slight fraying to spine ends. Internally there is a small pasted bookplate to the front pastedown endpaper and an ownership signature dated 1898 at the initial blank. The endpapers are bright and clean with a small hole at the front endpaper joint. The contents are complete and clean. The tissue guard to the frontispiece is brown toned and this has offset to the title page. There is the occasional small crease to the bottom corner tips and the bottom corner of p 67 has been wrongly cut in binding. There are a couple of repaired bottom page edge tears (pp 131 and 133). Page 421 has a crease down the side margin. Please enquire if you would like to see additional images.

Sinopsis

Emma is a novel by Jane Austen, published in 1815. The story follows the life of Emma Woodhouse, a wealthy and beautiful young woman who lives in the English countryside. Emma fancies herself as a matchmaker and sets out to find a suitable husband for her friend Harriet Smith. However, her attempts to play cupid lead to several misadventures, including a love triangle involving her own romantic interests. As the story unfolds, Emma learns important lessons about humility, love, and the consequences of meddling in the lives of others. The novel is a satire of the English upper class and is widely considered a classic of English literature.

Sobre E C Books

E C Books is a small online bookselling business, specialising in pre 20th century works:natural history, science, history, and travel, aiming for rarer and more unusual books. Our largest stock area is Natural History, where we have a good range of books from the 1700-1800's, many finely illustrated. Other areas include children's books, particularly late 1800's-early 1900's - again illustrated; and literature pre 1900.When you order books from us we ensure that they are properly packed to protect condition, and we always use recorded or 'signed for' postal services for more secure delivery. Please note that we have recently moved to the beautiful Orkney Islands, where we intend to open a bookshop over the next year. Because of our location we cannot guarantee 'next day' delivery but we will get your purchase to you as quickly and safely as we can. Please note that the buyer is responsible for the payment of any tax or duty on import.
