"From the rich lore of newspaper files, county clerks' records, eyewitness accounts and personal experiences, the author has faithfully reconstructed the complete story of the discovery and development of petroleum in the Empire State, from Father de la Roche d' Allison's visit to an oil spring near Cuba, New York in 1627, to the modern secondary recovery methods that rejuvenated the rapidly waning oil field of eastern United States," illustrated with photos and drawings, book has a non-authorial inscription below the map on the front end-paper, also a small damp-mark at the bottom of the front hinge and small, mild damp-marks at the bottom of the rear end-paper, the cloth spine-ends also have damp-marks but they are very faint and visible only as whitish smudges, the top outer page-edge is a bit soiled, the binding is tight and the contents are fine, the jacket is missing the top half of the spine and has been laminated by the former owner, a few smaller edge-chips are present, the original price (5.00) is present ; 475 pages; Signed by Author .
