Charles Morgan was a British playwright and novelist known for his fictional works evolving around the themes of art, love, and death, and the relationship between them. The present copy is a first edition of the author's work The Empty Room, a wartime novel found in an attractive publisher's full morocco binding. The same edition was issued in cloth with dust wrapper. A story concerning a man's handling of the pain that still afflicts him after the loss of his wife twenty years prior. He identifies his daughter with his dead wife, as she slowly feels she is loosing her identity. In the original publisher's full limp morocco binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear, a minor rubbing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
