Illustrated with a colour frontis and forty nine full colour plates, all mounted onto thick art paper pages at back of book, each one with a printed tissue guard. Decorative endpapers with map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine, bright and clean copy throughout in original russet cloth binding with gilt stamped decoration and lettering to front board and spine. Very minor rubbing to hinges and a small bump to the lower front board at the outer corner, but overall a beautiful clean copy of this classic. Among the very best of Rackham's work.

Twelve Fables of Aesop narrated by Glenway Wescott, illustrated with 18 linoleum blocks by Antonio Frasconi, designed and printed in three colors (black, gray, and red) on Rives mould-made paper by Joseph Blumenthal at the Spiral Press, New York, from hand-set Emerson type and from the artist's original blocks. The edition is limited to 975 numbered copies and 25 lettered review copies, all signed by Mr. Frasconi, Mr. Wescott, and Mr. Blumenthal. This copy is one of the 25 lettered copies (copy number "F"). In addition to the other three signatures, it is signed by Monroe Wheeler. In 1935 Wheeler was employed by New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). He was on the Library Committee and in three years he was Director of Membership and the following year Director of Publications. Large format folio, 15" x 14", published as a child's lapbook, as shown in the cover illustration. Green cloth backed paper covered boards, with color Smith drawing inset on front and rear covers. Recto printed sheets and seven exquisite, full page color plates - four by Green and three by Smith (plus her cover illustration), along with six headpiece drawings in orange and black by Smith, and six by Green. All plates are present. Stories and verses written for the pictures by Mabel Humphrey. Color process by noted printer Charles W. Beck, Jr., who would have a hand in other Smith publications. The book is very good internally and good plus overall. Pages and plates are clean with no writing or markings, colors and text are strong and sharp, binding is tight. Two-color pictorial endpapers; 16 full-color plates and numerous b&w illustrations. Spine ends lightly rubbed, lower corners a bit rubbed, with front corner lightly bumped (with some resulting light damage to lower corner of label), else a clean, tight copy with all color plates remarkably bright.
First edition in the rare dark blue cloth. The first printing of this book was created with lavish color plates and cover label embellished with metallic green ink. The second printing changed to a label without the metallic green ink, and all other printings left the color plates blank in the areas that the metallic green had appeared. In original very good color illustrated dust jacket, with a few nicks from the tail of the spine, a few closed tears to edges and light soil. Nineteenth of the Oz story books. A very nice example of a title in the very scarce dust jacket.

Four fabulous and detailed double-page pop-up scenes, plus full and partial page black & white illustrations throughout. The boards are ever so lightly soiled else this is a fine copy with fine pop-ups. The scarce dustwrapper is present; it lightly browned with age else near fine. A nice copy of an early Disney work.

Original colorfully printed boards. The four large pop-ups are in fine condition. There is some age-browning to the boards, and both corners are bumped, but this is a very good copy. With the scarce pictorial dustwrapper, also lightly age-browned else in very good condition. Overall, a nice copy of this early Disney work.
