Dust jacket shows rubbing, scuffing, sunning, and a circle marring the image. Signed by Garfield Weston, noted Canadian businessman, on the half-title, dated 1960. Underlining on the dedication page, otherwise text block is clean. Contains 17 pages of photographs documenting the two year Antarctic voyage, which, along with their diaries and interviews, provides a unique perspective..
Sinopsis
Ernest Shackleton defined heroism in 1915 when his ship, the Endurance, was trapped in ice and then destroyed on its way to Antarctica. This tense week-by-week, month-by-month reconstruction charts the incredible journey undertaken by his crew of 27 men through 850 miles of the southern Atlantic's heaviest seas.

Shackleton's story of survival set in the Antarctica of the early 20th century. His expedition was to traverse the South Pole, but after their ship the Endurance was crushed by ice, it became a saga of men trying to stay alive in some of the harshest conditions on the planet, and crossing 600 miles of the most dangerous sea on earth in a twenty-two foot boat. It is the only book that ever made me seasick, and it is a true story.

Subtitle reads 'Devided into Provinces; with its sub-divisions of Counties. Baronies. &cc. Shewing their Boundaries, Extent, Soil, Produce, Contents, Measure, Members of Parliament, and Number of Inhabitants; also the Cities, Boroughs, Billages, Mountains, Bogs, Lakes, Rivers and Natural Curiosities Together with the Great and Bye Post Roads. The whole taken from actual Surveys and Observations By Bernard Scale, Land Surveyor and beautifully engraved on 78 Copper Plates by Messrs. Ellis and Palmer'. Brown leather with marble paper to boards. Maps in colour. Rubbing and a little scuffing to boards and wear to leather at extremities, a little darkening to paper to boards towards spine, some tanning to end papers at corners and near gutter, a little foxing to interior, very faint offset to adjacent pages from maps.
