Philadelphia: Porter and Coates, 1882. 1st Edition . Leather Bound. Fair/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Quarto. 537 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in 3/4 leather with brown marbled paper-covered boards. Raised bands on the spine. All edges gilt. The binding shows heavy rubbing and scuffing but is sound. Hinges are rubbed but secure. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned but is generally clean and unmarked. Text illustrations throughout and with a few full page illustrations. This title was also late issued in a smaller format with different illustrations. This is the large Quarto edition.
