Huxley's full signature on 2-1/2 inch high by 4-1/4 inch wide creamy paper with the "Geological Survey of England and Wales" seal embossed in blind at the top. Signed "Thomas H. Huxley". Likely once folded with a vertical crease down the center. There is minor foxing to the top. Very good. <p>Known as "Darwin's Bulldog" for his staunch advocacy of Darwin's theory of evolution, the English biologist Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895) was one of the finest comparative anatomists of the 19th century. His comparison of Archaeopteryx with Compsognathus led him to the conclusion that birds were descended from small carnivorous dinosaurs.
