Foreword by Trenchard Cox; Essay on The History of the English Chair by Ralph Edwards, F.S.A. This brief history of the English Chair was originally prepared by Mr. Ralph Edwards, former Keeper of the Department of Woodwork. If has now been considerably revised so as to include a number of fine chairs acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1951 and 1965.
