7-1/2 x 5 inches. 48pp. Stapled brown wrappers printed in black. Text in English and Chinese. Worn, with small stains to wrappers around binding staples and a few pencil scribbles to front wrapper; leaves toned and somewhat brittle, with small marginal loss to lower corner of beginning leaves.
A surprisingly scarce booklet for teaching English to Chinese students, most likely by Western missionaries. The lessons cover the English alphabet, simple words and phrases, and short Christian texts, side by side with the same in Chinese; instructions for the teacher are scattered throughout.
OCLC locates only three holdings of any edition, at Yale, the University of Virginia and the University of Illinois.
