This is a first edition (1974) of The English Country House, An Art and a Way of Life by the English writer and artist Olive Cook. It is not a picture book, but a study of the country house as a work of art.
It starts with the Medieval age and goes up to the great houses of the 19th century.
There are 269 photos.
240 pages. 8" x 10 1/4" x 1". High-quality paper.
No shelfwear to the dust jacket, which is unclipped. The spine has been cracked in the center and there is an attractive bookplate on the front endpaper.
Otherwise pristine condition.
