Additional engraved title page laid down. Bound in later russia ornately panelled in blind and gilt by Charles Lewis. Rebacked preserving the original spine, with raised bands, panelled in gilt and blind tooling. All edges gilt. Bookplate of the Taylor Institute with their neat disposal stamp. The text block clean and crisp and the folding plates in fine condition. An attractive copy. First published in 1649, in which year there were two issues. This, the third edition was substantially re-written and expanded so as to become almost a different book. Blith advocates drainage work, leys and the benefits of manuring by folding sheep and cattle, all ideas in the forefront of agricultural techniques of his day. See Fussell p. 52. Wing B3195.
