Some of the subjects covered include English Pistols and the Civil Wars, horse and carriage pistols, service pistols under George III, the flintlock dueller, percussion pistols, early revolving pistols, Colt and his imitators and English percussion revolvers. John Nigel George's book was the first major work to focus on this segment of gunsmithing's British roots, and decades later it remains the seminal treatment of the subject. The author was unquestionably an authority with impeccable credentials, and in this work he addressed the evolution of British handguns from their rudimentary and rude beginnings in the troubled times of the Puritan Revolution in the seventeenth century to the eve of World War II. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Signed by Author .
