Sobre este artículo

New York: Universe Books / Main Street Press., 1978. A clean, square, tight copy. No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark. Pages are fresh and crisp. No underlining. No highlighting. No margin notes. Bound in the original maroon boards, lettered in gilt. This is a collection of articles reprinted from issues of ANTIQUES MAGAZINE, 1922 to 1977. Illustrated with hundreds of photographs. Index. From the publisher: "The articles in this survey have been arranged in six sections. The first, ENGLISH POTTERY 1650-1800, shows the contribution made by both simple and sophisticated earthen wares in the history of English ceramics. The second, ENGLISH 18TH CENTURY PORCELAINS puts English porcelain making in its historical context. The third is devoted to WEDGWOOD. The fourth, CERAMIC FIGURES AND PORTRAITS reflects the traditional role of the potter as an image maker. The fifth BLUE PRINTED WARES shows the importance of an artistically humble, but economically vital basic product of the 19th century. The sixth section is VICTORIAN AND LATER POTTERY AND PORCELAIN." Includes WEDGWOOD: WHAT'S IN A MARK by Geoffrey A. Godden: "Another mark which is so close to the true Wedgwood mark that it can be mistaken for it by the casual observer is WIEGWOOD, again just sufficiently dissimilar to avoid legal action. It is occasionally found on Wedgwood-type creamwares and also on black basalt wares. A superb covered tureen with this mark is shown...". First Edition (so stated). Hard Cover. Near Fine condition./No Dust Jacket.. 288pp..

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
