Sobre este artículo

Boston: Charles Ewer, 1819. Very Good. Boston: Charles Ewer, 1819. First American Edition, from the Second London Edition, Greatly Enlarged and Corrected. Thick Octavo. 1006 pages; text in double columns. Rebacked with original calf retained. Red spine label with gilt lettering.

Boards a bit warped, with some shallow chipping to original leather along seams with new backing and at tail of spine. Small, old ownership inscription of a "Chas. A. Lewis" with unclear college attribution at top of front free endpaper. Back hinge cracked but secure, with front hinge overly tight. Staining to top page edges about 1.5" out from spine, which has not affected top margins of pages themselves. Opens easily to between a few gatherings, but binding is sound. Pages unmarked.

First published in 1816, this was Crabb's most successful work and remains in print today. This copy from the personal library of journalist and language writer William Safire, with no ownership markings.
