London: Michael Joseph. As New in As New dust jacket. 1988. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. A beautiful book with over 300 photographs. Introduction by Miss Read (Dora Saint). The book is about as new. Signed by Dora Saint on the title page as both Miss Read and Dora Saint. Signed copies are rare and at the time of posting there were none available. Dust jacket also just about as new. Unclipped and with a protective mylar cover. Laid in is a newspaper clipping about the book, place into an acid free sleeve. Miss Read (or Dora Jessie Saint) was an English novelist and a schoolmistress by profession. Best known for her Fairacre and Thursh Green novels set in the British countryside. In 1998 she was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to literature. Our collection of Miss Read books come from a single collector, all of them signed, which is extremely rare and generally in exceptional condition.
