The basis for the 1960 British film directed by Tony Richardson, produced by Harry Saltzman and starring Laurence Olivier.

Original jade green cloth with gilt titles to spine in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket with photograph by Tony Armstrong-Jones. Cover cloth lightly rubbed and top edge a little dusty; faint foxing to endpapers otherwise contents clean and fresh. Jacket toned, mainly to rear white panel, and repaired at head and tail of spine; reverse edges skilfully covered with cream adhesive tape. Overall a Near Fine copy in Very Good jacket. The follow-up to Osborne's runaway success "Look Back in Anger", "The Entertainer" starred Laurence Olivier as failing music-hall artist Archie Rice; the play used the entertainment scene as a metaphor for the changing world political situation and the fading British Empire.
