Sobre este artículo
London: W. Baynes and Son, 1824 . Leather. Very Good. 5" by 3". None. A well-presented copy of James Beattie's famous philosophical work, in a full calf binding. Bound in full calf. A later edition of James Beattie's work, published by the proprietors of the English Classics. The work was first published in 1770. This essay on the Nature and Immutability of Truth was intended as an answer to David Hume and had great immediate success, leading to an introduction to the King, a pension of £200, and the degree of LL.D. from Oxford. James Beattie was a Scottish poet, moralist and philosopher, known for his fierce opposition to slavery. With a sketch of the author's life, an introduction and a preface to the work. Illustrated with a frontispiece and an engraved title page. Collated, complete. Bound in full calf. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Small crack to the front joint and head of the rear joint. Front hinge is a little strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd mark. Very Good
