Sobre este artículo
London: Printed by Burks and Kinnebrook, Norwich, for Hunter, 72, St. Paul's Church-yard., 1822. Sixth edition. Signed and inscribed by the author's son, Edward Rigby (Jr.). Octavo. Contemporary half black calf over marbled boards; the spine with five raised bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt, and with red morocco title label lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Marbling to page edges. A very good copy indeed, the binding square and tight with a little rubbing to the boards and extremities. The contents with some occasional light scattered foxing are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. A handsome copy. Signed and inscribed by the author's son, Edward Rigby, in black ink to the front endpaper: "Mr Thomas Salt / a prize at the weekly Examination of / the Midwifery Class at St. Bartholomew's / from Edwd. Rigby MD / June 1844". The key work on obstetrics by the English physician and writer Edward Rigby (1747-1821), all editions of which are relatively scarce in commerce. This sixth, posthumous, edition was the first to incorporate a memoir of his life by the surgeon John Cross. An excellent association copy, presented by the author's son, the celebrated obstetrician, medical writer, and first President of the Obstetrical Society of London, Edward Rigby (1804-1860), in his capacity as the examiner of the midwifery class at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London.
