Sobre este artículo

New York: Longmans, Green, and Co, 1908. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. [7], viii, [2], 3-610, [6] pp. Brown pebbled leather with gilt rules on the boards, gilt decorations to the turn-ins, the reverse of the boards are paneled leather over green morocco, gilt lettering on the front board and spine, spine in six compartments; top edge gilt. White silk endpapers. Illustrated with a black and white frontispiece portrait of William James reading. The essays were written by James' colleagues, and include contributions from John Dewey, Felix Adler, Kate Gordon, and many other philosophers and psychologists. James was famous for developing the first standard psychology textbook to be used in U.S. schools. He was also a philosopher, dabbling in radical empiricism and pragmatism. James earned his degree in medicine from Harvard Medical School, and spent his career lecturing there and at other institutions on the East Coast. William James firmly believed that our psychological experiences could be tied to our physiology. He argued that mental states were connected to physical ones, and worked fervently to make psychology a hard science. Moderate rubbing to the joints; the title and the preface page each have a small closed tear to their fore-edges, the green silk bookmark is laid in.
