Esq; Concerning the Stage (1698) and The Occasional Paper: No. IX Containing some Considerations about the Danger of going to Plays (1698). Gift inscription from the editors on title page. Signed by former owner Gerald Eades Bentley (1901-1994), the author of the foundational seven-volume work The Jacobean and Caroline Stage, as well as other works on Shakespeare and other authors of the English Renaissance. He taught at the University of Chicago from 1929 to 1945, when he became the Murray Professor English at Princeton University. Very scarce. In Near Fine Condition: faded along spine; otherwise, clean and solid.
