Claude Bragdon was an architect and designer who dabbled in theosophy and the occult and wrote about it all with an infectious spirit and passion. In numerous essays and books, Bragdon advocated a theosophical approach to building design, urging an "organic" Gothic style which he believed consistent with "natural order" - over the "arranged" Beaux-Arts architecture of the classical revival. Bragdon wrote a number of books on spiritual topics, including Eastern religions and reincarnation, including this one." This is a book about Love in all its forms and phases--initial, daemonic, celestial, personal, sexual--by one who has successfully demonstrated his right to discuss these profound and perilous themes in "Old Lamps for New" and "The New Image." Contents: Introduction : the tangled skein of destiny --The personality and the life-force ; The inner identity of all religious teaching --Love the activity of the life-force ; The misunderstanding and perversion of love --The story of creation as told in the Upanishads ; Initial and demonic love ; Celestial love --Androgyne ; The love of the sexes ; Sexual love --The many marriages ; Beauty --"I am that"--Polarity ; Dwellers of the threshold --The world-spectacle ; Time-bending and space-binding --The worship of Moloch ; Mind idolatry ; Sex idolatry --The miraculous power of love--"Give all to love."
