The first edition, first printing of this work, printed in September 1922.In the price unclipped publisher's original illustrated dust wrapper of an A.L. Burt edition, dated circa 1924 via the advertisements to the rear wrap. Illustrated with a frontispiece by Ernest Fuhr.Set in England, the novel concerns a lawyer who successfully defends an accused murderer, only to become embroiled with the dangerous father in law of the man he saved.The work of prolific English novelist E. Phillips Oppenheim, who authored over one-hundred novels between 1887 and 1943. In 1927, he was featured on the cover of Time magazine.With an advertisement leaf to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with slight fading to spine. Dust wrapper exceptionally bright, with light handling marks to back strip tail, and towards the head and tail of the rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, but lightly age toned due to paper type. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
