First Printing indicated by a complete numerical sequence. Very Good+ to Near Fine in Near Fine DJ: The Book shows a touch of wear to the upper rear corner tip; several very superficial dents at the bottom edge of the pictorial laminate boards; the binding shows a hint of spine lean, but remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A nearly-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing minor, unobtrusive imperfections only. Bright and clean. Very close to "As New". The DJ shows mild wrinkling to the upper extremities; else flawless; the price is intact. Very close to "As New". NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 12mo. (11.25 x 9 x 0.45 inches). 48 pages. Profusely illustrated in color. Language: English. Weight: 17 ounces. Age Level: 7 and up. Hardback with DJ. Duncan introduces the animals and plants of seven North American habitats: alpine tundra, kelp forest, desert, prairie, salt marsh, swamp, and the Arctic. In each section, four pages introduce individual plants and animals through many, small illustrations accompanied by short, descriptive paragraphs. A large painting follows on a double-page spread, showing the environment teeming with life and giving readers an opportunity to identify species as they might appear in the wild. Silhouetted against a white background, the small paintings are clearer than the large spreads, in which Duncan notes that she includes more species than one would find, in order to facilitate the search-and-find concept. An intriguing supplement to more traditional books on biomes.
