Sobre este artículo
Pamphlet, 8vo, removed, dbd, 43 pp. Some aging and browning; otherwise very good. Dallas (1759-1817) a lawyer, politician, and eventually Secretary of the Treasury, was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He started his political career in 1791 when he became the Secretary of Pennsylvania. He became Secretary of the Treasury in 1814 when the United States was practically bankrupt. He reorganized the department, reduced debt, and created a surplus (could use someone like him today). This pamphlet provides information on revenues and expenditures in 1816. There is material on taxes, debt, and duties, as well as, some of the fiscal measures being used at that time. ANB.
