Paris: At the printing office and stereotype foundery of P. Didot the elder, and of F. Didot, 1813. [3], 6-235pp, [1]. Without half-title. Contemporary gilt-tooled sheep, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, marbled edges. Extremities rubbed, joints split, chipping to head of spine. Marbled endpapers, early inked ownership inscription to head of title page, scattered foxing. An early stereotype edition, done according to the process of Parisian printer Firmin Didot, of the collected fables of John Gay (1685-1732) and Edward Moore (1712-1757). OCLC records copies of this edition at five locations (National Library of Sweden, Northwestern, Purdue, Stanford, and Zurich); COPAC adds two further (Cambridge and Hull). . 12mo.

Concentrating on hand-press printing and early modern manuscripts, we pride ourselves on offering a varied selection of antiquarian works on a diverse range of subjects, leaning towards the interesting, the important, and the unusual.
We have a countryside bookshop in Wareham; we also regularly issue catalogues - do ask if you would like to be added to our mailing list - and frequently exhibit at regional and national book fairs in London, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, and York.
We also offer a valuation service (for either insurance or probate purposes), as well as advice on library development.
