If we had to guess, the original cover wraps had the title, author, and publisher's information. Probably published 1860, it is an odd amalgam of advice, recipes and quackery, from How to Get Rich, Art of Good Behavior, On the Choice of Meats and How to Cook Them, to On the Preservation of Sight, The Art of Carving (with in-text illustrations), on Making Puddings, Courtship and Marriage, Hydropathy, etc. The appendix of wealthy people is very interesting indeed. John Jacob Astor by far exceeds everyone, worth a cool $25M. Trimmed VERY close along right edge, resulting in loss of the last letters of some words.

This issue explains the paper's founding and purpose, a history of temperance reform, information on the License Law in Boston, examples of social disintegration due to alcohol, the formation of other temperance organizations, etc. Bifolium.
