Sobre este artículo
1673. Kiøbenhafn (Copenhagen), Matthias Jergensen, 1673. 8vo. In contemporary full vellum. Wear to extremities, boards miscoloured and with scratches. Inner hinges split and last few leaves with a few worm-tracts, otherwise internally nice and clean. (20), 366, (2) pp. 1 woodcut in text. Wanting the plate and the map. The rare first edition of Debes’ seminal work on the Faroe Islands not only being one the very earliest works solely dedicated to these Island but also being the first work on the subject to be translated into English and German. It remains an important historical and ethnographic source for understanding the Faroese society of that time. Lucas Jacobsøn Debes was a Danish clergyman, historian, and ethnographer who lived from 1623 to 1675. He is known for his significant contributions to the study of the Faroe Islands. Thesaurus 445Biblioteca Danica III, 611.Fiske I, p. 97
