Sobre este artículo

Undated-Copyright 1940-First Thus-Other than a neatly written signature on the end page, this is a tight, sound and unmarked copy-" Henderson, UK ambassador in Berlin in the pre-war years, was roundly vilified as an appeaser (which he was), but this personal account, published in the early war years when, with the benefit of hindsight, everyone (including Henderson) knew what should have been done is a powerful defense of those who honestly strove for the world's peace, even when the chances were slim. And not a bad read too!"- Warren- " Quite a poignant tale from a diplomat of the old school. His sense of failure despite his best efforts is reflected in the book title- though in reality probably no one would have done any better dealing with Hitler then at the height of his powers. It's a good read which sets out in some detail all the machinations and intrigues which accompanied diplomatic missions in the days leading up to World War 2. The author died aged 60, just a few years later, his health probably having been adversely affected by the strains and pressures of his diplomatic responsibilities. As you read the book, he can be seen to have been a good man trying to perform an impossible job, however, this book speaks eloquently of his personal desire to do something to avoid the catastrophe that was about to be unleashed triggered - however impossible the task."-Castell Nedd-Burgandy cloth, No DJ.
