Alfred A. Knopf, 1923. First Edition. Unknown. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall. Sunning and fading, slight rubbing and browning to covers (vellum over boards; chiefly to midsections of boards and foredges); slight bumping to top and lower edges; slight internal browning to edges. [6], 66, [1] pages. Novella concerning a world-weary New Yorker in the aftermath of the Great War with both romantic and socialistic inclinations, as well as the affective cognomen of 'Jimmy Fairfax'. One of 950 numbered copies (the entire edition; this is number 270) printed by The Marchbanks Press under the supervision of Frederic W. Goudy (who also designed the typeface). Bound in 3/4 white vellum over pink boards, gilt-stamped spine, covers ruled gilt, yellow endpapers, all edges untrimmed. Still a nice, tight copy internally.b/w Decorative title Page & Headpieces.
