Quarto; modern cloth-backed boards with original paper covers laid down, retaining original pictorial endpapers, gilt-lettered calf spine label, bespoke cloth slipcase; viii,[4],160pp.; tipped in color frontispiece and fourteen (14) leaves of plates, fifteen (15) half-tone illus. throughout text, each hand-colored and initialed by the author, as are pictorial endpapers.
Binding rather crudely updated, front board a bit warped and rear cover soiled with dampstain along spine, textblock rather brittle and very slightly toned, long closed tear along gutter edge of pp. 57/8 not approaching text; overall a Good or better copy, annotated on front free endpaper in contemporary green ink: "Isidora Newman / Hand colored by the Author." It should be noted that hand-colored illustrations by Newman are not unique to this copy.
