Near fine in publisher's red cloth illustrated with a bird and nest design, the cloth is clean, the gilt bright, the text block is aged toned but clean. Prize label awarded to Edwin Hodges by Harborne Chapel Sunday School. This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes-Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes-Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis. 1900
