London: Printed for Private Distribution, 1896. 8vo. 17, [3] pp. Facsimile frontisp. of a verse stanza printed on Japanese vellum, facsimile signature on last page, Ashley Library colophon dated 1896 on recto of p. 19. Cream-coloured Japanese paper boards, gilt lettering on spine, (minor dustsoiling, slight toning to rear board, still a NF copy from the library famed book collector, John A. Spoor, w/ bookplate engraved by Emery Walker and dated 1921 on front pastedown. First edition, 1 of 27 copies printed on Whatman’s handmade paper (manuscript annotation on ffep. noted limited to 30 copies). This title formed one of The Ashley Library Series of Privately Printed Books, and the Epistle was addressed to Mr. Charles Baxter, one of the author’s executors. Prideaux, 45, pp. 96-97.
