Sobre este artículo

London: W. M. Clark, 1845. Book. Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo. pp.iv, 412; a few wood engravings in text; This is the complete first volume of the Framily Doctor containing 26 weekly parts starting with June 7, 1845 and ending with November 29, 1845, each with its own dated "title" page. Contemporary plain half black calf cloth binding, good with some general wear and rubbing to extremities, front joint with short splits at the head and tail, corners somewhat worn, but remains firmly bound. Contents good and tight, signature excised from the front free end paper, tape reinforcement to the front hinge, some general reading wear and finger soiling, more prevalent to the general title page and first few pages. The text also covers household receipts and various anecdotes as well as a reader's advice section. Bibliographical note: very scarce, seemingly with a small circulation; Copac lists just one copy and that at the Welcome Library. The Family Doctor barely lasted a year and was suspended after number 20 of the second volume following irregular publication; on p. 316 of that volume it is stated "The editor ... is compelled to bring the second volume to a close at No. 20 ... He will endeavour to have it resuscitated, either in its present or some other form" --The cause is given as delays in printing and hence irregularity of publication. (Vol I only present here)..
