New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, (1950), 1950. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good. 8vo. 611 pages. Translated from the Yiddish by A. H. Gross. Inscribed by the author on the page opposite the title page, "To Harold with greetings I. B. Singer". Dust jacket protected in a new mylar sleeve, not price clipped ($5.95). Dust jacket has a few small edge chips, 1/4" to 3/4" closed tears, and 1/4" by 1 1/2" hole along spine edge. Light green binding is in near fine, bright, unfaded, tight, square condition with a very small dent near top of spine. Red end papers are very clean, no marks as is interior of book. No date on title page, 1950 date on copyright page. Later edition of the author's first book which won the Nobel Prize.
