Sobre este artículo

London: Henry Colburn, 1838. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. Vol. II: xi, 306p., frontis.; Vol. III: xii, 327p., frontis. 2 volumes bound in modern burgandy buckram. Tight bindings and good covers. Minimal shelfwear. Japanese library marks on title page of each volume. Clean, unmarked pages.

The text is most engaging and as described in Lust (Western Books on China Published Up to 1850) "noteworthy for its close observation, very revealing for British attitudes towards China at the time". Naturally given the period the author's travels in China were in southern China in the area around Macao and Canton. A most interesting account that is still fascinating to read nearly 200 years after it was written. (Lust 218).
