Publisher's blue/green cloth with gilt illustration to upper. A used but presentable set; contents shaken within case, owner inscription to first volume, bindings with acceptable wear and soiling, spines a little frayed, tear to head of joint (volume two). An inexpensive and presentable copy of the first edition. Fridtjof Nansen; Zoological scientist; Polar Explorer; Norwegian Delegate- Société des Nations; and originator of 'Nansen passports' (for refugees), was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1922. Listed number 11 in National Geographic's 100 Greatest Adventure books.
