Corrected copy of the memorial speeches to Daniel Coit Gilman (1831 - 1908), Yale class of 1852, founder of the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale College, the third president of the University of California, first president of Johns Hopkins University, and founding president of the Carnegie Institution.
The volume includes annotations and additions of Ephraim Cutter, as well as a presentation inscription by him. Ephraim Cutter (1832 - 1917), was an American physician and Yale graduate (class 1852) recognized for his inventions of a wide range of surgical instruments, his work in laryngology, and his discovery of the tuberculosis test for cattle.
The inscription reads, "In Memoriam fr Jacob Cooper to Prof Lane Cooper, compliments of Y 1852 acad, E. Cutter, [illegible] West Falmouth, Mass 1910 Jan 13".
Large thin 8vo, 39pp. Black gilt cloth, title in gilt at front board, no title at spine. Front board & spine faintly sunned; internally very good condition.
