Sobre este artículo

About this Item: The Gebbie Publishing Co. Ltd., Philadelphia, 1898. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Honore Balzac (1799-1850) was one of the finest French writers and observers of the middle of the 19th century. Balzac was one of the founders of realism in European history. His writing influenced such famous writers as Zola, Dickens,Henry james and jack Kerouac to name a few, and important philosophers such as Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The Comedie Humaine was a group of novels short stories and titles of books written by the author over a period of years. They were first published in 1830. Father Goriot and M. Gobseck is one of these books that was published in English almost fifty years after the authors death. Book is in good + condition, bound in red cloth over boards with a nice paper label.Book is square with sharp tips and only slightly bumped spine ends.Gilt top edge is trimmed and the fore and bottom edges are untrimmed.Binding is still quite tight with a crack between the paste-down and the FFE. There is what appears to be a name and city written in a fine hand dated 1898 on the FFE.Internally the book is un-marked. The Book is scarce and collectible.
