Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1898. Hardcover. Very Good. Reprint. Two volumes bound as one. Translated in the original metres by Bayard Taylor. Gilt-stamped green cloth, top edge gilt. Extremities modestly rubbed, spine ends and corners lightly bumped, near fine being fellow poet James Merrill's copy with his name Signed on the front fly. Also, laid in are two typed letters, one is Signed by [J.D.] Sandy McClatchy and addressed to another poet Daniel Hoffman. The other typed letter (unsigned) is Daniel Hoffman's response to "Sandy". Both letters written in the year of James Merrill's death. Merrill was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1977 for *Divine Comedies*. A unique association copy.
