(2 ll.), iv, 171, (1) pp., (2 blank ll.). *** FIRST EDITION, first issue; some copies were issued in illustrated wrappers dating much later. Includes the earliest appearance of Eça de Queiroz's short story "Outro amável milagre" (pp. 93-100), later published in the Revista moderna for December 1898 with the title "O Suave milagre." Other contributors to this anthology (published for the benefit of a girls' foundling home) include Camilo Castelo Branco, Antero de Quental, Oliveira Martins, Guerra Junqueiro, João de Deus, Ramalho Ortigão, Theophilo Braga and Bulhão Pato. *** Innocêncio XVIII, 46: giving publication date as 1886.
