Contemporary stiff vellum with title and erroneous author ("Roberti") written in manuscript on spine. The name "Roberti" also appears in ink after "Abate N.N." on the title-page. . Octavo. Engraved frontisportrait, engraved vignette on title-page, woodcut headband, initial letter, and tail-pieces Covers a bit soiled, with minor stains, and vellum patch at foot of spine. A few small wormholes on binding near back joints.Back free endpaper detached, light worming at gutter margins of endpapers, extending to lower margin of last two leaves of text, but not touching text. Overall a very good, crisp copy. La felicità del matrimonio discusses the problems of choosing a wife based on physical beauty, the nature of women, and the inherent inequalities of the sexes, especially when there is a large different in age or education. He advises on how to deal with admirer's of one's wife, the reading of romances an novels, etc. Campastri alludes to a number of authors in this treatise, including Locke, Newton, Boccaccio, Pettrarch, Addison, Fontenelle, and Ben Jonson.

Our office is located in Los Angeles on West Third Street, between the Beverly Center and Farmer's Market. Though we gave up an open shop after more than thirty years, we welcome serious customers and dealers. We are normally open from 10 to 6 Monday through Saturday. Since some of our less expensive books are located in a temperature-controlled storage area offsite, you may want to call ahead of time to insure that the book you want to see will be available. We feature a stock strong in literature, history, Western philosophy, women's studies, education, history of science and fine printing and artists' books. We are members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. We have books from the 15th to the 20th century in all prices ranges.
