Paris: Goupil et Vibert, Bulla et Delarue, 1832. Very good condition. Richly colored hand colored lithograph highlighted with gum arabic, depicting a woman from the Greek island of Santorini in beautiful traditional garb, full trousers with flowing overskirts, full sleeved blouse and head scarf.
From Deveria's 'Costumes historiques de ville ou de théâtre et travestissemens'. Achille Devéria (1800-1857), painter and illustrator. The plates in 'Costumes' were lithographed by Lemercier, Motte and Cattier, and represent Italian, Arab, Spanish, Swiss, Chinese, English, Russian, Belgian, French, Indian, German, Persian, and Greek subjects.
Printed in the upper left corner is the number 109. Engraved by Cattier. 10 x 15 1/2"
