Paris: Gihaut frères, 1840 Lithograph 30 x 23.5 cm (some foxing). Tatarian women from Baydar in Crimea. In 1837–38 Count Anatoly Nikolaievich Demidov organized a scientific expedition of 22 scholars, writers and artists to southern Russia and the Crimea. Its results were published as "Voyage dans la Russie méridionale et la Crimée" (4 volumes 1840–1842) which included 100 lithographs by French illustrator and lithographer Auguste Raffet.
