Writing under the pseudonym Pierre Loti, Louis Marie-Julien Viaud rose to the fame in the late 1800s after publishing his critically acclaimed novel Mon Frère Yves, in which he describes the life of a French naval officer. In the present collection of essays, Loti again draws on his own life, and includes descriptions his experiences in Algiers, Constantinople, and the Holy Land. Rebound in a quarter cloth binding over marbled boards. Externally, very smart. Very lightly rubbed to the joints with some light bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned but clean throughout. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
